Foliage: At first glance this might look like an H. callistophylla but its not and the way you can tell the difference is that the leaves aren't shiny, but rather matte and waxy, and the veins are noticeably raised. The veining is dark green and the leaves are a medium to light green depending on how much sunlight they receive. When sun stressed the irregular edges turn red first.

Flowers: Plum coloured, fuzzy star-shaped petals and plum corona.  Both the petals and corona are edged in white and the centre is too.
