Foliage: At maturity, the leaves are big, 11-15 cm long and 4-6 cm wide. The colour is dark green and the veins are quite visible. Sun-stress causes splotchy spots on the leaves (as shown in the picture). The vines are known to twine together and will climb up a trellis.

Flowers: Bright purple on purple star-shaped leaves with pale yellow or cream centres.
